Port Columbus Offers Summer Travel Tips

COLUMBUS – Thousands of Central Ohioans are departing for summer vacation to many of the 33 nonstop destinations that Port Columbus serves. To help vacationers take off with ease, the Airport Authority suggests a few tips and resources to assist its customers before heading to the airport:

• www.FlyColumbus.com provides helpful information about parking, airline links, airport amenities and more.

• www.tsa.gov is an important resource to check for what is allowed through security checkpoints, as well as how travelers can help facilitate the process. You may also call the Transportation Security Administration (TSA) at 1-877-872-7990. A few guidelines to remember include:

Liquids and gels in Carry-On Luggage o Liquid and gel containers can be no larger than 3.4 ounces by volume o All liquids and gels must be placed in a 1-quart size clear, plastic zip-top bag o Only 1 bag of liquids and gels per passenger is allowed o Keep the bag handy to be screened

Shoes, Belts, Jackets, Loose Change, Laptops and Carry-ons o Place shoes directly on the conveyor of the security scanning machine. o Place all loose items to be scanned in the bins provided. o Remove laptops from cases and place in its own bin.

Have your government issued picture ID and boarding pass in hand when entering the security checkpoint

• Allow plenty of time to park, take a shuttle to the terminal, check in with your airline, clear security and get to your gate. Many airlines recommend customers arrive to the airport 90 minutes before their departure time.

• Visit airline Web sites to confirm carry-on luggage sizes and find out if your airline imposes fees for checked baggage.
