Airport To Host Public Information Workshop About Bolton Field

The Columbus Airport Authority will host a Public Information Workshop on Monday, September 30th to share information and receive comments from the community on updates to the Bolton Field Airport Master Plan and the official Noise Exposure Maps (NEMs).

The public workshop will be held in the Bolton Field Airport Terminal Building located at 2000 Norton Road, Columbus. The workshop will be conducted in an open house format where the public is welcome to attend anytime between the hours of 6:00 p.m. and 8:00 p.m. No formal presentations are planned but members of the Airport Authority staff and the consultant team will be present to provide information and to answer questions about the master plan and NEMs.

The master planning process provides an opportunity to understand the physical and operational conditions of the airport and to identify future development plans to meet the forecasted need for facilities over the next 20-year period. The master plan is then used to guide the phased development of airport facilities as needed based upon actual demand.

Concurrent to the master plan process, an update to the official NEMs for the airport has been prepared. NEMs show the noise contours for the airport and have been updated to reflect existing conditions in 2001, five years (2006), and 20 years in the future (2020). The NEMs are prepared according to Federal Aviation Regulations (FAR) Part 150 guidelines in regard to methodology, noise metrics, identification of incompatible land uses and public outreach.
